Who is Rommel?

Erwin Rommel (15 November 1891 – 14 October 1944) was a German general and military theorist. Popularly known as the Desert Fox, he served as field marshal in the Wehrmacht of Nazi Germany during World War II. Rommel was a highly decorated officer in World War I and was awarded the Pour le Mérite for his actions on the Italian Front. In 1937 he published his classic book on military tactics, Infantry Attacks, drawing on his experiences from World War I. In World War II, he distinguished himself as the commander of the 7th Panzer Division during the 1940 invasion of France. His leadership of German and Italian forces in the North African Campaign established his reputation as one of the most able tank commanders of the war, and earned him the nickname der Wüstenfuchs, "the Desert Fox". Among his British adversaries he earned a strong reputation for chivalry, and the North African campaign has often been called a "war without hate". He later commanded the German forces opposing the Allied cross-channel invasion of Normandy in June 1944.

Erwin Rommel supported the Nazi seizure of power and Adolf Hitler, although his reluctant stance towards antisemitism, Nazi ideology and level of knowledge of the Holocaust remain a matter of debate among scholars. In 1944, Rommel was implicated in the 20 July plot to assassinate Hitler. Due to Rommel's status as a national hero, Hitler desired to eliminate him quietly instead of immediately executing him, as many other plotters were. Rommel was given a choice between committing suicide, in return for assurances that his reputation would remain intact and that his family would not be persecuted following his death, or facing a trial that would result in his disgrace and execution; he chose the former and committed suicide using a cyanide pill. Rommel was given a state funeral, and it was announced that he had succumbed to his injuries from the strafing of his staff car in Normandy.

My parents name me after the great German General Rommel. I am the eldest amongst my siblings. Being the eldest child, there is much more pressure in me to set good example to my siblings, to be mature, and responsible in every situation. When something does go wrong, or someone does something bad, I get the bulk of the blame.

In 1988, at the age of 18, I joined Jollibee Vito Cruz, and work in the evening to finance my studies. I was able to get my undergraduate diploma in Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Mapua Institute of Technology in 1991. This will not be possible without God’s blessings, self-discipline in my routine, and focus to get my end in mind.

My first corporate leadership role was Crew Leader (CL) in Jollibee Vito Cruz. The Branch Manager gave me the responsibility to supervise all the staffers in the store, and that life experience makes it easier for me when my role transformed from Crew Leader to Store Manager.

In 1998, I had the opportunity to manage and lead the Aftersales Department of Ford Pampanga. My experiences working with people, processes, and controls in Jollibee helped me overcome the new challenges I have faced in the automotive industry.

In 2001, I decided to develop my business management competency. I enrolled in AGSB MBA under MM Program, but due to several unforeseen situation I left the school in 2006 with several subjects unfinished. What I was able to learn in graduate school helped me go out from my comfort zone. I decided to transfer from Ford to Hyundai, although same automotive industry, but all stakeholders are new. In 2005, I joined Suzuki Philippines as National Service Manager.

In 2006, I partnered with my cousin to run several Ink Refilling Stores in Metro Manila. During that time, I put up my own business which is a Laundry Shop and Perfume Refilling Kiosk.

In May 2018, I decided to go back to Ateneo Graduate School of Business (AGSB). I submitted a '"Letter of Intent" to Dean Rodolfo Ang, and it was approved.

History repeats itself! I am a working student again! In 1998, I work to finance my studies in MIT. Now 2018, I am working to finance my MBA!

Hopefully, in God's time i can finish my STRAMA in April 2019.

I have been in the IS/IT Industry for almost a decade now, but this is my first time to create "my personal" website. I hope i can impart something to whoever will read my blog post.

Thank you!
